It's snowing as we speak - or type - or whatever. Anyway, SNOW! Yay, snow!
Snow always makes me happy. They're saying it won't stick and it's supposed to be back into the 60's next week, but for now, it's nice to go and run with the puppies in the snow. What a wonderful Thanksgiving treat. The girls already have little snowballs matting in the fur around their feet. Too much fun!
The menu for tomorrow is set - and wonder of wonders, I actually did all the shopping ahead of time. It was odd not to have to run to the store today. Odd, but nice. So, we will be having waffles and vanilla sauce for breakfast (everyone comes here for Thanksgiving since I actually like to cook instead of viewing it as a chore) followed by a late lunch of:
Emeril's Big Bird with Giblet Gravy
Savory Spinach and Artichoke Stuffing
Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes
Cranberry-Jalapeno Relish
Mango & Red Onion Salad
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Strudel
The majority of the recipes are from Emeril's Chelsea Market Thanksgiving. I watched the episode and, since I was rather annoyed with the too creative nature of the Gourmet magazine this month, decided to go with it. I'll probably still make a box of Stove Top for my brother in law since it's his favorite and well, it's tasty. We always have enough food left over to munch for a week, so one more dish won't kill anyone.
I made the relish and the pumpkin pie tonight, since they are both better cold and it's two fewer things to worry about tomorrow. Relish is tasty. Didn't try the pie.
Now I must go save Tim, the helpless one, from starving to death in front of the overly full fridge that appparantly has "nothing to eat."
