Adventures in Shopping

So this evening I thought I might toodle out to the Post Office with their lovely new late hours and then head off for a little Christmas shopping - as it occurred to me that I have purchased exactly 1 gift so far this year. And, while I'm not all about the commercialism of the season...I really probably need to get something for everyone in the family. Or at least it seems that way to me.

So I hop in my trusty car, zip off to the PO, pack and ship my two packages (riddle me this: why does it cost only $5 to ship something priority to an overseas APO but costs $12 to ship something regular mail to Las Vegas? Roughly the same weight. Just weird.) Anyway, then back in my trusty car and zip off to Kohls, home of warm gloves and other sundries.

Zip out of Kohls with tons of time to hit up Borders and Best Buy and...car won't start. Car doesn't even have a dome light. Car doesn't even ding when I have the keys in the car and the door open.

Thankfully I have a cell phone, so I call up Tim and he comes out and after much finegeling, we have a working car. And at this point, we just head home. Tim has one question at the end of this ordeal: "Who in their right mind puts a screw-down battery cover over the battery in their cars?" (Answer: Saturn.)

I have this question: Tim, if this had been you, who refuses to have a cell phone, what would you have done?

His answer? Gone back inside the store and asked to use the phone.

Smart allek.
