I'm sitting here dreading the fact that I have to go back to work tomorrow and realizing that I feel this way at the end of every long holiday weekend. It just seems like I spend so much time running around during these "relaxing" weekends that I need another weekend to recover. But all in all, it was still a good weekend.
Saturday everyone from my family came over, and Tim's dad was in town as well, and we hung out and had supper and then read the Christmas story and sang carols and then opened our gifts. We've always done presents on Christmas eve in my family and I kind of like that, and we've also always just done our own little worship service. This year I kind of wanted to go to the Christmas Eve service at Church, but no one else wanted to, so we didn't. Everyone headed out around 11.
Sunday morning everyone came back over for waffles and vanilla sauce before the Sunday morning service. Then we went to church, came home and I started cooking. I did a rib roast with a garlic and thyme sauce, smoked gouda mashed potatoes, and green beans. It wasn't overly fancy, but it was tasty. Then we had fresh apple strudel (that I made 3 of on Saturday) for dessert and brie and crackers later on for a bit of a snack. We watched the Serenity DVD that Tim got - it still rocks! And otherwise just kind of hung out.
Today Tim and his dad and I went down to Charlottesville to see an aunt and uncle. The girls came along, which I was a little nervous about, but by and large they did ok. The little one had one little growling incident, but otherwise all was well and it was a fairly restful day all things considered. I seriously thought about not going, but decided at the last minute to just suck it up. I'm glad I did.
But tomorrow it's back to work. Hopefully it'll be quiet and me and my iPod (did I tell you I got an iPod? it's good when Santa reads your blog!) can get lots of good work done. We shall see how it goes. For those of you not working this week, enjoy your time off. For those of you who are working...I feel your pain. Anyone else thinking they might be "sick" on Friday?

Beth, you're "sick" every day.
