More than you ever wanted to know about hibernation

Ok, the article (linked in the post title) is fascinating...and probably more than you wanted to know. Call it a quick jaunt back into science geekery, if you must.

Favorite factoid: When bats hibernate, their breathing is so slow it can only be detected with instruments and dew forms on them.

Now that's some serious sleeping.

And what about the "internal purification" of the ground squirrels? Sounds very zen like, doesn't it?

Hi Beth! I've been meaning to speak up for awhile now. You're a great writer!

  2. Hi Gwynne! Thanks for coming by - I always enjoy your comments on Jen's blog and over at Bloggin' Outloud (at least, I'm assuming this is the same Gwynne :) )

Yeah, the squirrel thing was very zen, but also made me a little queasy cause I thought too hard about it.

    Hope you'll come by regularly!
