I have some stuff I want to post - but I'll get to that later. For now, Lyn has tagged me, and well, hey, they're kinda fun.
So...7 songs on my playlist. It's a little tricky cause I usually listen on shuffle, so...I'll just list the next 7 songs that it will play.
1) Hey Jupiter (Tori Amos - Boys for Pele)
2) Forecast Fascist Future (Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins)
3) Not the One (The Offspring - Smash)
4) Home At Dawn (Superchunk - Incidental Music 1991-95)
5) She's Perfect (Jimmy Eat World)
6) Meltdown (Steve Taylor - Meltdown)
7) El Manana (Gorillaz - Demon Days)
So yeah...ecclectic would fit the bill if I had to describe, though that set seems actually pretty "rock like" -- I have a ton of classical on here as well as CCM - just not currently up to bat. Like I said, I listen on shuffle, so you'd end up with something different every time you asked me this. Not tagging anyone specific - play if you wanna!

Wow. I do not recognize a single one of those songs (or 6 of the artists...maybe 5). I've got to get out more. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I noticed those were some of the more obscure people in my iPod - so don't feel bad. :) Some of them (Superchunk, notably) are very recent likes, though they've been around a while I'm told.
ReplyDeleteRight this minute I am listening to Beck (song: Debra, album: Midnite Vultures) and actually that just ended and Toad the Wet Sprocket came on. So...maybe it's just an obscure day. (Some days it's Madonna followed by Christina followed by Mandy Moore - much more mainstream.)
Now you've spoken words I understand...Toad the Wet Sprocket is on my pod today also. ;-) I like obscure stuff much moreso than mainstream. I'll have to tiptoe over to iTunes today and peek at some of your selections.
ReplyDeleteI miss Toad. I wish they hadn't broken up. There are few bands that I truly miss - my top two are probably Toad and the Presidents of the USA.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't already love them, another obscure favorite of mine are the Flaming Lips. And I could go on and on. Let me know if you want me to. :)
Toad...now that's obscure. Like Manhattan Transfer at Dane's place for you! lol Hey, I like the new template btw, great look, lgp
ReplyDeleteWhoa...you lost me again. ;-) The Flaming Lips? Okay. I visited iTunes to check out your assortment (mostly "alternative indie rock"...is that how you would describe it?) and then went back to my pod and sorted by genre. I have exactly 3 "alternative" (as defined by iTunes) albums (not counting some assorted singles). These include Loggins and Messina(?!), so really just 2...Toad, and Matchbox 20. Guess I'm not much of an "alternative rock" girl...but my coffee quiz confirmed I like to try new things, so thanks for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is funny (to me anyway)...this is why I don't shuffle. The seque from Toad's Walk on the Ocean to The Ventures' Hawaii Five-O to The Three Tenors leaves my head spinning.
ReplyDeleteHm. I guess I would consider a lot of my (well, ok, our - Tim likes the same stuff I do) alternative/indie rock. It fits. I wouldn't call Matchbox 20 indie though -- they're mainstream (IMO).
ReplyDeleteYou should give the Flaming Lips a try. And/or Fountains of Wayne. Both are very fun.
Your shuffle sequence is a lot like some I end up with during the day - if it's too weird I just hit the next button and skip whatever was making my head spin. :)
I DO like Fountains of Wayne! I'll have to download me some of that. And I'll try the Flaming Lips too. I agree that Matchbox 20 is more mainstream than Toad (but less so than Loggins and Messina...sheesh). Thanks!
