According to Eric (many thanks!) - it is Limerick Day today. How did I not know about Limerick Day?? I adore Limericks (though honestly, as much as I adore Ireland, I can do without visiting Limerick City again.)
So, without further ado - a Limerick celebrating Friday, created whilst I type:
Fridays are always good fun
since the arduous workweek is done.
Now it's time to kick back
and be nothing but slack
from the rise to the set of the sun.
(Note, I didn't promise a good Limerick.) Ok, take a shot in the comments if you like (yes, yes, I put the ka-bosh on my poetry contest since no one entered, so I'm not expecting anything, but hey...you never know, you might like it. First one's free!)

Beth was a cool blogging chick,
ReplyDeleteTo whom a limerick no-one would kick,
Rachel came along,
Creative juices flowed like a song,
And all Beth could say was "Ick!"
I love limericks! Surely someone can do better than this one :P!
No time to write a limerick, but Beth, your's was very good!
ReplyDeleteRach, at least you gave it a shot! :)
Limericks are too much like dancing for me...they require rhythm, and I ain't got none. ;-) But you are the poet laureate, Beth!
ReplyDeleteYay for Rach! I'm so glad you gave it a shot. (: And such a flattering Limerick at that!
ReplyDeleteGwynne - Limerick rhythm is just like walking...you do that, right? :)
GLG - yeah yeah yeah, too busy out in the yard with killer spiders, no doubt.
What?! A limerick day and no one invited me? I'm hurt. But I have a limerick.
ReplyDeleteEccleston's a Doctor called Who
Its time travelling' he gets to do
But he's scarcely begin it
when along comes Dave Tennant
to replace the man in season two!
Eccleston's no Tom Baker but I do like him. I've never heard of David Tennant but he's young and supposedly good. This is getting as bad as picking James Bonds.
Dane, I just had a minor hissy over that last night. I adore Eccleston (Mind you, I never watched the original, so I don't know any of the previous 9 incarnations at all). I was surfing about looking for the Dr Who themesong on mp3 (don't ask) and found the BBC page and I'm like, "There's Rose, where' the Doctor?" And Tim points to the usurper.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but seriously, Eccleston's going to be a hard act to follow.
I started watching with Tom Baker. I saw all of his shows and I think he was The Doctor longest. I hit and missed after that. I tried watching all of Sylvester McCoy who I thought was delightfully weird (and short). I saw the FOX movie and was unimpressed (along with the rest of the world).
ReplyDeleteThen there was nothing for a while. I didn't even know they had started the franchise until last year, my fifth post as a blogger, I found they had named the "second" new Doctor Who. I didn't even know they had a first new Doctor Who. Then earlier this year, TiVo and Sci-Fi gave me the new series. After getting used to The Doctor being tall again, I found really liked Eccleston. And if you never saw an old show, believe me, the special effect now are 10000 times better than the old cheesy stuff they had in the 80's and early 90's. (In the old show the Daleks couldn't take a flight of steps :-) )
Tim used to watch and was amazed at the hovering Dalek. :) I still thought it was cool, even though I hadn't seen the previous (lame) version. We'll have to see how the new guy goes in the next season (so far we're still DVRing Eccleston episodes.)
