I'm off to school again for the weekend. Lovely time of year to be visiting Florida - South Florida - don't you think? Though, looking at weather.com was encouraging as it appears that it should be in the mid-80's and rainy (so at least there's a point behind all the humidity.) I, of course, did not bring my umbrella, having only just thought to check the weather now when the packing was done last night. I'll either pilfer out of Tim's car on the way to the airport or grab something from one of the 9 million shops while I'm waiting for my flight.
I'm hoping that the wheezing cough I've picked up in the last few days doesn't make the whole experience just a little less exciting than it might otherwise be.
Anyway, this trip I have found a better hotel - a hotel from a chain I actually know and have a fondness for. As a bonus, they'll even honor the school discount so it's not costing any more than the God-forsaken rat hole I stayed in last time. If all goes as planned, I will not wake several times a night with my heart racing because I'm fairly sure someone is trying to get into my room. Nor will I have to fight the dust bunnies for the remote. And I think this time my Internet will be free. (Even if I have to pay, I had to pay last time, so no biggie.)
The in-laws were to have descended this weekend whilst I was away. However it now appears that, due to sinus conditions beyond their control, they have postponed their flight and are coming at some later date yet to be determined. All in all, I see this as a positive development.
Regardless, I'll most likely be around, but in case I'm not it's because I'm in class all day where I actually have productive work to occupy my time (rather than at work where, well, that just isn't the case.)

Hold on, the in-laws are postponing their "move" due to sinus conditions?? I'm thinking it should be fairly easy to deter them indefinitely...alert them to the possibility of sniper attacks, terrorism, and anthrax threats, all everyday occurences in the greater D.C. region (radiating in at least a 200 mile radius). ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy travels. Looking forward to aligator and humidity tales. ;-)
School? Oh, yeah, work hard!
Have so much fun!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know if this is what you were going for with your title, but now I have "We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow" going around in my head.
ReplyDeleteGwynne, the thought occured. :) I will try to provide alligator and humidity stories, though I earnestly endeavor to avoid anything that has scales (up to and including practicing them on my piano - I much prefer Hanon for finger warming) - humidity on the other hand I should have in spades. (Or maybe clubs, depending.) :)
ReplyDeleteJami - Is that a verse from "Ain't it Great to Be Crazy" ? If so, dead on. :) I'm told that I learned the verse I started out with incorrectly and that the vast majority says "Way down south where bananas grow" but...I like the ice and snow better. Of course my favorite verse is:
One bright day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other.
Not sure what that says about me though. :)
Hee. Oh, no. I did not catch that it was from that poem (which I remember reading a loooong time ago), alas. My lyrics are from Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song". Tee-hee.
ReplyDeleteI second what Gwynne said! ;) You never know what those sinuses will do to you.
ReplyDeleteHope your trip to Florida is productive!
Work hard and play hard as they say! Enjoy the upgraded accomodation! Score!
ReplyDeletewotm - so far the trip is better (now that I'm here, getting here is another story, posted above :) ) The funny thing is, we do live in a high pollen area. She's gonna eventually have to learn to rise above it, but that's just not her strong suit.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, productive would be good! (of course, I sit here blogging when I should be studying...)
Thanks, Rach :)
