Had I not had the expectation that this would somehow let me feel as if I'd gotten to know Amy Grant a little bit, it would have been an excellent book. There are some lovely people who you get to meet and leave feeling that you've met more than a passing glimpse of their personalities: Uncle Larry, Aunt Jean, Dorothy Lee, and Johnny Gillespie are particular folks who stand out. But the conspicuous absence of Gary Chapman in Amy's reminiscing leaves you feeling uncomfortable - as if she has not even one fleeting happy memory from those 16 years of marriage that she could share. The writing is good and the vignettes short - it's a perfect book for reading a chapter here or there while in waiting rooms or as rewards for doing chores or just for setting on the coffee table to flip through now and then when you have a few minutes. It's a great book to give as a hostess or shower gift or to someone who hasn't had their expectations wrongly set by the marketing copy on the back flap.
You can find it at Amazon.
