I've been singularly unmotivated to work on homework this week. However, this has allowed me to watch more than my usual share of TV (which is actually good, because the DVR is starting to fill up). Following are some random thoughts that have the potential to be semi-spoilerish. I'll try to be more specific about potential spoilers when I get to specific shows.
- CSI (Las Vegas) - Is anyone else doing the dance of joy that Jorja Fox (Sarah) is leaving? I'm so thrilled - it might just save this show for me. I'm so tired of her ending every sentence with a question mark. And her bizzaro romance with Grissom has been way too much. I really enjoyed the CSI/Without A Trace combo episode and, sadly, since I started recording Without a Trace to make sure I didn't miss it...I'm probably going to end up watching it now. It's a fairly good show.
- Heroes - This has now been bumped off my list of things I'm going to watch. We're still recording it, but Tim's on his own. It's like a soap opera. A really bad, fairly unplotted soap opera. I've said it before, I'll say it again: I like shows where good guys are good guys and bad guys are bad guys. This back and forth with Claire's dad and Mohinder possibly...bleh. Too much angst and drama, not enough, oh I don't know...PLOT.
- Big Bang Theory - I was skeptical for the first couple episodes, but it's growing on me. It embodies every pathetic smart person stereotype there is, but they manage to be hilarious and not insulting. "That's how we roll in the Shire." Classic.
- America's Next Top Model (Spoilerish) - Bianca must go. She is such the b-word. Of course, this likely means she's going to win and she doesn't deserve it at all. Also, why are they going to China? Just to fly somewhere? Cause really...what can they do in China that they couldn't do here? And while I'm still pulling for Heather, I'm guessing she's going to go kinda soon...the stress and nastiness of the other girls is visibly starting to take a toll. Oh, one more thing...Bianca must go.
- Project Runway (Also possibly spoilerish) - The first couple episodes are always kind of a waste because there are just too many people and you know that a good number are going to go home, so you don't want to get emotionally invested in any of them until you know they're going to be around a while. However, did anyone else notice the apparently enormous gap in talent between the groups? There are some really talented people and then there are the others that leave you scratching your head wondering how they got cast. Anyway, the chick who went home wasn't on my list of who should go at all - though I didn't expect her to stay a super long time unless she stepped it up. So...basically this means I still know nothing about fashion. Oh, also? Anyone else notice that the guys all seem to be gayer than normal (except the one straight guy who made a huge point about being straight) and the girls are all...freaky? I miss Laura already.
- The Next Iron Chef (Also also possibly spoilerish) - This ended on Sunday and I was pleased with the result. Though honestly I think I would've been ok with either of them winning, I just liked Chef Simon better - he took more risks and while that meant sometimes he had flops, at least he was out there trying whereas Chef Besh was just Mr. Cajun Big Ego the whole time, with consistently good, but not outstanding, dishes. Plus, Simon has more personality, and that's really what you need to be an Iron Chef.
