Ah, Bureaucracy

I knew things were going too smoothly.

Got an urgent email (why can't she just pick up the phone if it's urgent?) from the social worker who did our home study letting us know that we need to redo our police and CPS checks since they will be either just expired or just about to expire when the baby is born. Everything has to be current within the last 12 months.

So, tomorrow we will try to rush around and get fingerprints done and money orders printed so that we can redo these checks. Please pray that they go fast - they can take up to 4 weeks to process. If the baby comes on the due date, we have exactly 32 days from today. So it's going to be cutting it close - especially if the baby comes early.

I think we're going to have to go ahead and refresh our physicals as well, since they'll expire in the middle of January and if the baby is late, then that will be a problem. I just need to get the forms from the agency to take to the doctor's.

It will all work out. I keep telling myself this. I really do believe it, this is all in God's hands and His timing. But the potential roadblocks are enough to really ratchet up the stress.

Funny story though - I was looking for a place to get finger printed that was near either my office or Tim's to try and minimize the hassle and saw that the Sheriff's office on Courthouse Road will do them. I mention to Tim and Googlemap the address and realize that it's right by where my old office used to be. I mention that it's nice that it's right by the Courthouse Metro stop, at which point Tim starts laughing hysterically at me for not realizing that the metro stop is so named because it's at the Courthouse.

  1. eh. whatever. unless you get OFF at that stop and walk by the courthouse, who is to know that there's actually a courthouse there?
