I recently had the privilege of being introduced to the ladies of the Bargain Hunter's Network in their second adventure by Sharon Dunn. This charming mystery follows Ginger, her husband Earl, and the other ladies in the BHN as they travel to Calamity, Nevada for the happy coincidence of the world's largest garage sale and an inventor's expo, where Earl hopes to introduce and sell his pepper spray/flashlight combo and finally make it big. Unfortunately, things get off to a bad start when the air conditioning at the hotel is out, one of their rooms has been given away to a water skiing squirrel, and their booth at the inventor's expo has been sold to a higher bidder. In the midst of this mayhem, a man in a teddy bear costume is found dead and Ginger and her husband are at the top of the list of suspects.
The BHN quickly rallies to try and clear Ginger and Earl and find the true culprit. In the process, they each discover something new about themselves, their friendship, and most importantly, about God.
This is a truly delightful book and I will be on the lookout for future Bargain Hunter's Network stories! The plot and characters are beautifully developed and Ms. Dunn weaves in the truth about God and what it means to be a Christian in a natural, unpreachy, down to earth manner that fits easily into the story and never feels out of place.
If you like mysteries with everyday people as amateur sleuths, then this is sure to delight.
