My mom sent me a link to this Hermeneutics Quiz put out by Christianity Today. I am (shock, surprise) conservative (vs. Moderate or Progressive). I get the impression from the way many of the questions are worded that this is considered a bad thing. Which, all things considered, is certainly what a lot of people at our church would say - after all, it's the primary reason I got asked to leave our Sunday school class (because acknowledging that there is truth is, apparently, a bad thing and might hurt people's feelings.) In fact, it seems like this is an idea that is becoming more and more prevalent in the church in general and, frankly, I just don't get it. Because if, at the end of the day, it's just about relativism and feeling good...what's the point?

Wait! You, YOU?! got kicked out of Sunday School?!?! How did that story get past me?! This is great blog fodder! What happened exactly? I want more details. 8-}
ReplyDeleteAnd what Matt said is very funny. :-)
Matt - that was my first thought as well...but hey, maybe I just don't get it. :)
ReplyDeleteRodney - No surprise there. Though I got a 44. See? I'm even worse than you!
Gwynne - yeah, it'd be a great blog story, but I think there are still one or two people from that class who read there, and honestly, we left without most of them knowing what had gone on and I don't want to poison the well.
Gwynne - I would be VERY happy to Poison the well.......
ReplyDeleteAnd let you know why we were all kicked out of the class.....
But there I go again - being very "un-deacon-like" (their exact words).
Oh well - our new class is much closer to what we were all looking for and needed. God works in wonderful and mysterious ways!
