Vacation was wonderful. How could it be otherwise, honestly? But I think being in Ireland for two weeks made it more wonderful than two weeks at home with the lights out and doors locked, for example. I am contemplating what I want to do with details of the trip - I'm thinking I may make a little "travel blog" with stories and pictures. If I do that, I'll link here, otherwise I'll just do them as a series of posts here.
I do miss a few things already though - first I miss Ray, the morning DJ on TodayFM. Fun radio station, and much funnier of a morning guy than anyone within my usual listening range. I miss the idea of not being at work. Tomorrow I go back to the office and while, in some ways, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what happened while I was out, it's still work...and I don't have any idea what I'll be doing. For all I know, I'll be back to the "I have nothing to do" dance.
We came home to a huge stack of mail, mostly junk and 91 emails. It doesn't seem like we get too much junk mail on a given day - but boy it really piles up after two weeks. And 91 emails? That's just crazy. And I don't really understand how it happens since I haven't gotten ANY in the two days I've been home. Maybe everyone I know knew I was out of town and decided to email. Dunno.
The puppies are quite happy to be home. They enjoy the grandparents' house, but you can tell they're happy to be back in their own yard with their own pillows and of course with the preemptive pout postponement that takes place when we get back from vacation. (As in, stuff them with treats at every turn so they just remember how glad they are you're back and forget to pout about the fact that you deserted them for two weeks.)
In all, it's good to be home. We're both rested and relaxed and that, after all, is the idea.
