30 Day Free Trial!

Waiting for it to be time to check out Thursday morning, I was flipping channels on the hotel tv and there were no less than 5 infomercials running and all offering the 30 day free trial (and then never mentioning the final cost). So as I flipped I was enticed to purchase:

-A smoothie machine -- never suffer from the lack of freshly blended fruit smoothies! Get all the antioxidants you need each day!

-A pizza cooker -- in case the regular oven just isn't doing it for you.

-A weird metal bar you hold while you do yoga/stretching/cardio/balance ball exercises...and you get 5 DVDs and a meal plan all included with your purchase! Guaranteed to sculpt your body with very little effort and less time committment than any other exercise program! (though the people were at least sweating in this one at the end of their workouts...and they had Pekabo Street pimping for - er, endorsing - it, so it must be good, right?)

-A set of DVDs (no metal bar for this one) guaranteed to sculpt your body with very little effort and less time committmment than any other exercise program! (Notice the similarties?)

-A diet plan, guaranteed to get you the toned, sculpted body you've always wanted without ever having to exercise!

I'm all for a good gimmick - but really, if it was that easy, wouldn't we all be supermodels? Isn't the point of exercise that it takes committment and time? I imagine if it really was just 10 minutes a day that everyone would exercise every day. And I also wonder what they're hoping for if you get your 30 day free trial and then don't commit to the effort even for 30 days. Is it simply that if you're too lazy to commit for 30 days, you're too lazy to go to the post office and deal with the hassle of returning your purchase?

Hmm...they may be on to something.

Me, I think I should find my 30 day committment to the exercise I already know I should do and just do that - no gimmicks, just good ol' sweat. And even if I'm not back into my ideal body at the end of that time, at least I'll know I'm doing my part to get my genes into smaller jeans.
