So this morning, Tim's alarm clock was me, in a startled, very loud voice, "OH no!"
Yes, the wind knocked out the power briefly and the alarm clock did not recover. Thus, at 6:40 when I rolled over and just checked the time briefly to see if it was worth going back to sleep, I discovered that not only was it not worth it, but that I am usually almost at work by now. Just a great way to start the day.
However. On the positive side, it meant I didn't have to drive in the wind - we worked out a clever carpool that at least got me out of slugging in (so I'll slug home) and out of some of the wind. And I wore pants today, so slugging won't be as big a problem. (Some of the cars you climb in and out of are just not skirt friendly. Unless you like flashing the world, that is.) Now all I have to remember is that I parked at a different commuter lot than usual, so I need to get in a car headed to that lot. Not the normal one.
On a completely unrelated topic. You know how McDonalds used to fry their apple pies and they were gooey (in a good way), crunchy, yummy things? And then McD went on this whole bizarre health kick and started baking them? And now they're soggy, gooey (in a bad way), yucky things? For those of you who miss the old, I have two words: Taco Bell. I'll add two more just so you know what to order: apple empanada. (Or however you spell that.) Mmmm...so much better than McD pies ever were, even in their fried delightfulness. Just saying.

I used to just wake up when I needed to be up. Then we started getting up ridiculously early and my body-clock decided that while my work schedule may have dictated that that's when I "need" to get up, it's definitely not when I need to get up. You know? :)
ReplyDeleteYikes on the alarm clock problem. My body clock is pretty well set, though I relish sleeping in, definitely!
