Spring fever has hit with a vengance. Unfortunately, this means I'm able to find all manner of things I would prefer to do than my homework.
For example, last night I played My Little Pony with a 3 year old. It was fairly amusing - she's quite a character, and knows exactly what she wants and how the script is to be played out. Should you release the Little Pony for a moment to itch your nose or something, you are quickly and sternly reminded to "Put your hand on that." with a rather imperious point at the pony in question. I haven't played My Little Pony in, well, actually I don't recall ever playing My Little Pony. I had one - maybe two - but mostly I brushed their tails and put them back on the shelf. I was a tad older than the target market when they came out. Other fun comments to occur (while her mom and I were trying to chat and play MLP (a big no-no as it turned out)) were, "Hey. I'm talking now." But she's not ill-behaved and is actually quite polite for a three year old, she's just a tad precocious - but honestly, that makes her more fun, I think. Plus, she's one of the few children that age who have ever actually seemed to like me. Generally babies and I get along really well and then not again from the time they're 2 until around 5. Not sure why, exactly, but it's always made me a bit sad. Not so in this situation, which warms my little heart. So if I need to play My Little Pony, then so be it.
I'm also guessing that the theme of the Pony Play was not lost on her mom - it seems that little one earnestly desires a sister. Frequently the stage direction involved, "You be a mommy and I'll be a sister." or some variation thereof. It was just too cute.
After supper, and the departure of the little one and her folks, I hunkered down to read another exciting chapter on the topic of educational research. I got about half way through it before I decided that I really needed to check my email and Tim really should call his folks and...well, you get the idea. Tonight I simply must read this chapter.
Unless there's something more interesting to do.

For someone who gets straight A's on her papers, I think you can afford to slack. Slack away! Enjoy what little free time you can find. And I'll take any of that free time you don't want. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gwynne. Validation is always good. :) I did read my chapter last night though - and it's good that I did! I have a bit o' research that I'm going to do for this assignment and it's due in just about two weeks. I didn't think it was going to involve that much thought/effort. Let the stress begin! Ah well, keeps things interesting.
