I was standing in front of the vending machine trying to decide if I needed chocolate and, if so, what chocolate I might benefit most from and I realized that what would really make the world a better place would be a dark chocolate snickers. With almonds instead of peanuts.
Some curious googling later and I came up with snickers.com (why does a candy bar need its own website? I guess for curious googling.) Did you know that the almond snickers already exists? Has anyone tasted this? I've got to find one and try it. But it's still milk chocolate, so it's not going to be perfect, but it's probably better.
It also occurred to me that I wish they would combine Almond Joy and Mounds into one and just get rid of one. Because, again, the almonds are necessary as is the dark chocolate. Is anyone truly satisfied with them individually?

I could not agree more! The Almond Joy needs dark chocolate and the Mounds needs almonds. Stop wasting valuable production time on two partially complete candy bars. And the dark almond Snickers would be awesome (a little like See's dark chocolate nuts and chews...mmm, I think I need some of those now)!
ReplyDeleteThe snickers with almonds is the best. It is essentially a great big Mars Bar (yummy yum!) And the other great candy invention is the MilkyWay Dark. Put those in the freezer, yum!
ReplyDeleteGwynne, you and I should revamp the candy industry. :)
ReplyDeleteEric - you know, sometimes I just find that I really don't need chocolate. I know it's close to heresy, but there it is. And, well, on that note (apparently) I don't know that I've ever not felt like a nut. But if you insist that the world needs gobs of gooey coconut covered in choclate sans almonds, could we at least flip-flop the chocolate coating so that the almonds get the dark and the boring gets the milk?
Caltechgirl, I must go in search of almond snickers - I haven't found Mars bars in ages. Mmmmm. I also am a big fan of the Milky Way Dark - but it needs almonds! (I love almonds, are we sensing a theme? My most favoritest thing in the world is dark chocolate almond bark. MmmmmmMMmMM good.) Frozen is definitely the way to go with either though, you're spot on.
I don't always need chocolate either, but I always feel like a nut. And another thing...Almond Joy needs more almonds. ;-)
ReplyDeleteEric - see, I think we can agree on the fundamentals (chocolate is a good thing) but some of the lesser denominational issues are just causing strife. Either that or I need more chocolate in my life to remind me why I shouldn't be a heretic about it. :)
ReplyDeleteGwynne - See, right there with you. On all counts. How do you get joy from one lousy almond per mini-candy bar? I think we could be that much closer to solving the world's problems if we just had more chocolate covered nuts available for consumption. With or without coconut.
But if you insist that the world needs gobs of gooey coconut covered in choclate sans almonds, could we at least flip-flop the chocolate coating so that the almonds get the dark and the boring gets the milk?
ReplyDeleteThat would be my preference. I love Mounds, but I've long wished it was milk chocolate since I'm not a fan of the dark chocolate.
Not that I'm eating chocolate lately - can you believe I'm not even interested in it?
See there? Even the Mounds lovers want the chocolate coatings switched! So just what were they thinking when they did it this way? Clearly, there are problems in Candy Land's marketing department. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMichelle and I have been talking about a day trip to here for almost a year (don't worry, you can order online too)... this post reminded me of that, and might give us the push needed to actually make it happen!
ReplyDelete(you have to check out their Memory Lane section...)
ReplyDeleteMatt - Ooh. Thanks for the link. Now, I must not order anything. :) Or at least, not too much.
ReplyDeleteGwynne & Jen - Maybe we need to write Mars a letter :)
