Random Twiddles

More random thoughts in no particular order:

  • Actually, this one is in a particular order, it's first cause it's important. Gwynne is trying to quit blogging. This must not be allowed. Thus, please stop by her blog and leave a comment with ideas as to topics she could cover. (Keeping in mind that she stays pretty family-anonymous, so anecdotes about being a mom to teens, which could be really fascinating, are probably right out. But do ask her about that time when she did the thing with the other thing on the road trip.)
  • I have reactivated my carpul tunnel with a vengeance on this current baby blanket that I am madly trying to finish since the babe was born in *ahem* late May. (On the positive side, I haven't gotten a mailed out announcement of same yet so I'm hoping that buys me a little time on the gift...moms in the know, what do you think? On the other positive side, I'll post a picture and expect much ooing and ahhhing from all you on my amazing talent. ;) )
  • I don't think I spelled vengeance correctly. Too lazy to look it up though. In fact, I think I always spell it wrong. Oh well.
  • I really want to participate in Blogathon 2006, however there are two major issues to this: 1) I stink at staying up late. Seriously. I was going to make a comment about alcohol consumption and coherence vs. really tired and coherence then remembered my mom reads this blog...so um, yeah, you can probably figure it out though. 2) The charity I'd blog for (my mom's CPC) doesn't do online donations.
  • To mitigate the above, I have decided that I'm unofficially participating in Blogathon 2006 and, should you like to sponsor my non-official-participation, please make a pledge on behalf of Eric and The Fireant Gazette crew. The charity they're blogging for looks like a really great thing that can make a big difference in a lot of lives. To sponsor me (via Eric) click the linky (either the Eric one or the Eric and the Fireant Gazette crew one or just this one) then on the top right of the page, click where it says "Make a Pledge" and follow the instructions.
  • My unofficial participation lets me go to bed when I decide I can't take staying up any longer. Anyone who has to deal with me the next day week thanks you from the bottom of their hearts. Including myself. And especially Tim. And the puppies. And probably even the birds that dine at our birdfeeder on the deck.
  • Maybe I should've asked Eric if this was ok before just deciding it....hey Eric, is that ok?
  • I need a nap.
  • Or a vacation.

  1. I did the blogathon last year and didn't know how I'd manage to stay awake for 24 hours, but I did it. And it was very fun. Of course, I was totally out of sorts the whole next week, but it was worth it.

If I wasn't in my current condition, I'd be doing it this year, too.

Just so you know, Eric's charity didn't take online donations last year either.

  3. Dear QotP,

Thanks for your support! I really wasn't fishing for a cheerleader (although I realize now it may look like that), but it's nice of you to do so. ;-)

And I will definitely support your efforts in the Blog-a-thon.

Yes, do post a picture of the blanket for us to ogle. ;-)

  4. Eric, annoint sounds good if I'm going to be the Queen :) Can you appoint a Queen? Maybe next year I'll commit to staying up all night, but I'm the very strange person that made it through college and my master's having never pulled an all-nighter. I have now finally done so, but it's just not in my makeup. I didn't even stay up all night during Prom (yeah, I was a fun date - but then, I was the HS goody-two-shoes so presumably that was to be expected. Though I don't think subtle innuendos followed.)

Gwynne - Hey I just have to be sure you're chock-full-o-ideas. Titling something "The End" makes my little heart palpitate - and not in a good way! Plus I coached cheerleading once (which if you knew me in person would make you ROFL) so now and again those impulses come out. :)

  5. As you can see, the cheerleading was just what the doctor ordered. ;-) Thanks!
