I mentioned that the majority of our offices were moved to another building down the way a bit. And that there are a handful of us left behind here in the old digs. Shortly after relocating to the consolidated office space, I watched in horror as all the vending machines were wheeled off the premises. I suppose, from the vending machine owner's point of view, we are no longer a lucrative proposition, so I can kind of see that they'd like to relocate the machines to a more money-making location. Thus I have been toddling downstairs to the ubiquitous Chinese deli on the street level of the building. (These seem to be ubiquitous only in this area - but you're seriously hard pressed to find an office building that doesn't have one.)
In addition to costing more ($1.42 vs. the $0.65 from the vending machine), it's been upping my caffiene intake for the day (20 oz vs. 12oz in the can from the vending machine) but it hasn't seemed to effect my sleeping or anything else, so I've been rolling with it.
Well, the renovation of the building appears to be getting seriously underway now and they have put up scaffolding here there and everywhere outside. They blocked off one of the main entrances to the building and have closed much of the sidewalk as well. And inside? Inside they have closed access from the elevators to the Chinese deli.
So now if I want caffiene, instead of a quick dart downstairs, it's a more major operation involving going outside. Which means that, until I remember to buy a 12 pack of sodas and put them in the fridge, well, we've got decaffinated software engineers. It's a sad, sad day.
