A Random Meme

Ok - blame Gwynne for this, though hers is at least fun and leaves room for supposition. I (like Gwynne) am at work and (again like Gwynne) have only work-related books to hand, but (unlike Gwynne) my work related books are, well, less than exciting.

The meme works as follows:

  1. Grab the nearest book
  2. Open the book to page 123
  3. Find the 5th sentence
  4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog (along with these instructions.) (For the sake of the OCD, I'm clarifying that this means you post the 5th, 6th, and 7th sentences.)
  5. You must pick the closest book - no digging around for something that will make it look like you're fascinating and well-read. If the closest book is Uncle John's Bathroom Reader, well then, that's what I expect you to post...though I do wonder about you blogging from the bathroom...
  6. (optional) Tag 5 people.

Ok, from the ever exciting reference book "Building Web Services with Java", p. 123

"Let's say you want your purchase order to be extensible. Perhaps you want to include security in the document someday, or you might want to enable a notarization service to associate a token with a particular purchase order, as a third-party guarantee that the PO was sent and contained particular items. How might you make that happen?"

How indeed. I'll leave you with that, because I know it's one of the eternal questions that has been circling around in your head all day.

So...is that better or worse than not posting anything at all?

Update: Lynellen has a fun (and interesting) entry in the meme.
