Purchasing stamps is a pain in the rear. Usually the whole purchasing process runs something like this:
- Arrive at post office and circle aimlessly while dodging elderly ladies and backing out cars while looking for a place to park
- Finally manage to snag a parking place, dodge all the cars and elderly ladies wandering about the parking lot
- Enter post office and attempt to figure out if the "stamps only" line is actually shorter and/or moving faster than the "general purpose" line
- Flip a coin and get in a line
- Wait for twenty minutes and watch the line you didn't pick zip along while the same elderly lady that's been at the front of your line is up there still arguing aimlessly about whatever it is she's been arguing about for twenty minutes.
- Switch lines
- Realize that by the very fact of switching lines you have managed to rip the fabric of the universe and now the other line is zipping and you are still stuck.
- After aging several years, make your way to the front of the line and request stamps. Settle for the boring ones because, at this point, you just want to leave and be done rather than dealing with the whole issue of "What's new?"
Except that whole sign in thing. See, I created an account. I set my little password reminder clue. I got my first batch of stamps just before Christmas and life was good. And now, we're out of Christmas stamps, plus the price is going up next week (y'all know that, right? Postage goes up to $0.41 for 1 oz First Class stamps next week) and they're debuting the "forever stamp" (good for first class postage, even if the rates get hiked again) so I popped online to order. I even remembered my user name. And I thought I remembered my password.
Apparently I did not remember my password.
So I put in my little password hint answer.
Apparently I didn't remember it, either.
So, finally, I gave up and created myself a new account.
Except that they check to see that all the address/name information is the same. So helpfully they emailed me my user name. The one piece of this whole puzzle I actually remember.
Yeah. Tim's in charge of buying stamps now.
