I've Got Nothing

I'm in a two day seminar (today and tomorrow) downtown all day and as it's so incredibly scintillating as to just nearly keep me awake, I find I don't really have anything at all to say. Usually this doesn't stop me, as you're all well aware, but, well, there you are.

I will say, it's interesting how speakers try to be relevant and hip. The seminar is ostensibly for computer geeky folk, and so there have been numerous references to:

  • 42
  • Cranking it to 11
  • "I got better"
  • More cowbell
  • Obtaining the ring
  • etc.
The sad thing is, instead of your traditionally geeky audience, most of the people there really appear to be management types and as such there is nary a chuckle or snort. Just vaguely glazed over looks of confusion. While I didn't necessarily find the references amusing, watching them go over like the ubiquitous lead balloon has been kind of fun.

  2. Cranking it to 11 - This is Spinal Tap

More cowbell - SNL Behind the Music parody skit about Blue Oyster Cult - Will Farrell played the cowbell, Christopher Walken wanted more cowbell. It's all visual on this one, really.

I cracked up reading the list, beth.

One of my friends had a similar problem, except these people were from France and spoke very little English. I'm afraid it didn't go any better. :)
