Blog Tour: 101 Cups of Water

One of the first books I've read this year is 101 Cups of Water by C.D. Baker. This is a bit of a branch for me as it's not fiction - but it's also not what I'd consider a heavy hitting non-fiction book. Instead, it's really most like a devotional or book of meditations. What I liked the best about it is that all of the thoughts are very down to earth and practical - and yet just about every one has something in it that stays with you throughout the next couple of days and makes you think and consider the simple truth of it.

For example, early in the book, he has "A Cup of Dependence" wherein he says:

Most of us want a helper, someone to lean on, to turn to; we want a boost from a co-pilot. That makes most of us insane, really, because sane people don't want God as their copilot. Insane people do because that makes them the pilot and they can have the advantages of his help without the disadvantage of giving up the controls.
And they're all similar (in tone and in thought provocation.) They're short, one page thoughts with pretty photographs on the facing page, but they stay with you and make you think about things that you might not otherwise consider, and they all end with an encouraging thought. (And they're not just chirpy, greeting card, "theology lite" triteness, they really make you stop and reflect.)
