Sleepy Baby has started giggling when you play with him...it's the cutest thing in the universe. I think it was probably the highlight of my weekend.
That said, there was other delightful fun to be had over this Easter weekend as well. We saw friends on Saturday, chilled at home on Saturday (after a long day of homework for Tim and housework for me) and then Sunday was church and a family extravaganza at our house.
Church was actually pretty good this year - it was certainly more focused on the meaning behind the resurrection than I remember from previous years, and that's a decidedly good thing. Since we went to the early service, which is more contemporary, the music was actually worshipful and clearly heartfelt. (Our music minister has outright said that he doesn't "get" hymns, so has no idea how to lead the later, more traditional service. Thus it tends to feel like a dirge or rushed or a rushed dirge. So I'm getting to the point that I'd rather suck it up and try to quash the eye rolling at the clapping and showyness of the early service in order to have joyful music than deal with the travesty of sucking the life out of classics of the faith.)
Lunch turned out pretty well - I ended up convection roasting the prime rib and it was delightful. We also had a cold borscht (tasty!), green beans, yeast rolls, stuffing, and deviled eggs. Both families were there and there was much doting on the Sleepy Baby. He got no naps at all yesterday afternoon and thus slept from about 9:30 to nearly 4 once we got him down. Today he's been giggly and happy and is now napping peacefully while I get some work done. Or blog. You know, whatever.
And that's the random weekend wrap up. So perhaps now I should actually get to the PhD work that I should be doing.
