This is book 2 in the "French Twist" series by Sandra Byrd. I reviewed Let Them Eat Cake last September and was pleased to be invited to review this sequel.
In this book, we find Lexi Stewart in France as she begins her pastry school and job in the family bakeries of the owners of the Seattle bakery where she worked in the first book. Though still marginally prone to feeling sorry for herself, being alone in a foreign country quickly helps Lexi grow up and realize the blessings in her life. (Like getting paid to live one of her lifelong dreams, and so forth.)
One of the best things about this book and the previous is how alive and real the characters feel. The new friends (and not-quite-friends) that Lexi makes in France are wonderful additions to the cast and the lessons she learns through them are applicable to all of us.
Most of all, I can't wait for book 3, so we can find out how the story ends!
