Monday Random

I've got several posts rattling around in my head, but every time I sit down to write them I get about half way through and decide that, really, it's probably not possible that anyone cares. So. Instead, a few bullet points. (Which I realize probably no one cares about either, but well, this is a blog...isn't that kind of the definition?)

  • The snow last week was fun. We're possibly expecting more snow tonight, and then on Wednesday and Thursday as well. Not sure if any of it will come to fruition, but the kiddo is quite excited about the prospect now that I have finally managed to remember to buy a sled for him.
  • Tim installed Linux on his parent's machines so that he can remote into them and fix things from afar. This has cut down considerably on how much time he spends over there fixing things. On the other hand, it has increased the phone calls by a huge factor because his dad has decided that since it's on there, he ought to use it. Let me just go on record as saying that this is not a good thing.
  • I have been reading quite a few good books of late (yay for many of the free books on Kindle)! One I just finished was R.C. Sproul's A Taste of Heaven: Worship in the Light of Eternity. That was fantastic and so thought provoking, I'm still mulling many of the thoughts that it brought up. But what I liked the most was how he took the concept of worship and reminded us that really, worship, is so much more than the singing portion of a service, something that I feel is often lost today. (Then he went through the sacraments and showed how they are to be our worship).
  • I've already read 9 books this year. This is a good thing. I'm in the middle of The Forgotten Garden currently and already am ready to highly recommend it to anyone.
  • I am teaching two classes this term. This was a very stupid idea of mine. Honestly, I need to remember to just say no.
  • My data collection seems to be continuing to go well - so that's nice. Next major survey is toward the end of February.
  • I've been kicking around ideas for a late Spring/early Summer vacation for us but with ending data collection and wanting to finish my report and then, oh I don't know, graduate, I'm having a hard time thinking of anything reasonable. So maybe we'll just take a really nice vacation in the early fall when I have my degree.
And...there you are.

  1. Aw. Thanks, Eric.

That wasn't actually a desperate plea for people to comment...ok, maybe it was. :)
