We are fully in the new house.
Monday, packers showed up and those three ladies got all our worldly belongings that were not furniture into boxes in about six hours. I was astounded (and, bonus, from what I've unpacked so far nothing is broken. Touch wood, of course.) (They did pack a full sugar bowl, but really that's easy enough to tidy up when all is said and done.)
Tuesday and Wednesday, a crew of like six (maybe seven?) loaded everything into trucks and brought it over here. I will admit to a LOT of consternation when they were moving the piano. There was banging. And rumbling of the bass strings and really I was sure it was all going to end very, very badly, but they got it sorted and it's now in its new home, so all is well.
Also on Tuesday and Wednesday, we started painting the old house (because I like color and buyers, apparently, are skeered of color. So grey it is. Bah.) So far, I've managed the upstairs hall bath and the three other (non-primary) bedrooms. And 3 of the basement walls (leaving 2? Plus the basement bathroom? Plus the theater? Unsure there on how much we really need to do. Definitely the other two walls in the big part of the basement.) The big kicker rooms are the music room and dining room on the main floor (deep red and blue respectively).
Those are the projects for the weekend.
Here at the new house, meanwhile, hubby worked remotely while he and the boys also unpacked bedrooms (mostly) and started getting things organized. I've got the kitchen put together and really most of the main floor. There's a box with the contents of the junk drawer in it that scares me. I've tried to sort it three times and then just closed the lid and moved to something else. I'll get to it. But dang.
The china cabinet and curio cabinets are put together.
Steady and sure progress a little at a time.
As we speak, hubby's at the old house fixing up the hall bathroom floor (peel and stick vinyl tiles for the win) and probably cursing my name for suggesting it. He was also going to get a head start on taping said red and blue rooms for the painting extravaganza that will be tomorrow. Because I can't work without a net.
