A Little Bit O' This and That

Overall, it was a pretty good weekend around the Sleepy home - even with that danged "Spring Forward" issue Saturday night and our inability to actually go to bed earlier to try and compensate for the disruption. Instead, our tried and true mechanism for dealing with loss of sleep is to just continue to stay up even later than we normally would. I suppose this way we can't really blame the exhaustion on daylight savings but instead on our own foolishness.

Saturday I got a haircut. It looked really good when I left the salon but is somehow not looking good at all now, despite any styling attempts I might make. Generally I think it looks like a mangy animal has died on my head. It's classy.

That afternoon we had a little circle of life experience in the yard. One of the things I've often enjoyed about our street is that we're backed up on a conservation area (essentially a teeny strip of trees and a runoff stream, but it's still more nature than you get in most subdivisions in this area) and there are some larger birds of prey that make their home there or nearby. So I routinely see some sort of small hawk or falcon or something (I have no delusions that it's not an incredibly common type of bird of prey, still, they're pretty) soaring here and there. Of course, with birds of prey comes, well, prey. And sometimes these birds are messy eaters. And they drop little bits of carrion here or there. Like, for example, in our yard. And the dogs sniff at it and Tim goes to investigate and then manfully cleans it up. Because there's no way I'm doing it. This time, appropriately for spring, it appeared to be a bunny. Poor bunny.

Otherwise, there was much homework intermingled with finishing up the taxes (aren't you proud, Gwynne?) and playing with the dogs and the computers. (Computers need playing with, too, don't you know?)

And now it's back to Monday and the uncertainty of my current work situation and all the inherent decisions that need to be made surrounding that and, well, I honestly wish it could just be the weekend still so that I could procrastinate on making some of these decisions for just a little while longer.

To end things on a positive note, I found Cadbury Creme Eggs at the Giant when I went for my lunch, so Tim has 10 little nuggets of joy to tide him over for a little while. So, overall, life is good. Thank you Easter Bunny. *Bwok bwok*

  2. Even though my weeks run into my weekends now, the weekends are defined by being able to wear my "happy pants" (aka sweat pants) and sweatshirt for two days in a row. It's also when the phone dies and I can get some work done. Thus, I wish it was the weekend again also.

So, which is worse? The dead animal on your head or the one in the yard? I think it's about time I get a hair cut now that you mention it.
