This week I'm participating in a blog tour for Let Them Eat Cake! I think this novel falls squarely into the "Chick Lit" category. It's probably not pure fiction, nor is it really "romance". There is an element of romance hinted at, but that's very definitely a side line plot. If anything, this is a coming of age story for a young woman in her early 20s, just out of college, living at home, and unable to find/keep a job.
Lexi Stuart (the heroine) is a pretty likeable girl, though she has enough issues that there are occasional moments where you just want to throttle her gently. After losing a job doing French translations, she takes her college degree (in French - useful degree!) off to a local French bakery, where she works the counter. In the process of working there, Lexi finds some friends, meets a guy, re-finds her Faith, and begins the process of figuring out exactly who the adult Lexi really is.
Overall, this is an enjoyable (quick!) read, perfect for a weekend afternoon.
