While we're down here, we left the puppies at my parent's house. They love it there as there is a fenced yard where they can stay out a little more than is usual and frolic. Unfortunately it seems they found a way to escape.
Cassi was found and brought home and is no worse for wear.
They are essentially positive that Meg was hit by a car and killed.
We are all heartbroken.
Please especially pray for my parents as they are beside themselves that this happened on their watch. And if you wouldn't mind praying for a miracle that Meggie was, in fact, not the remains they viewed and that she would come prancing back, I would appreciate it. I know in my heart that there is no hope, but I can't quite give up on her yet.

Please, no! That is so awful that I can't bear to think about it. Like you said, it is made worse by the fact that it happened on their watch. I will pray that Meg returns, but I will also pray for peace in your hearts. So sad.
