And yet...I've got nothing but random thoughts:
- NaNoWriMo starts Saturday and, while I've signed up, I am more than likely going to use it simply as motivation for working on my dissertation proposal. Because I may actually have found people who will participate (yay!) and so it would be good to get the proposal finally approved so that I can defer next semester (and consequently save the tuition) and pick back up in the fall when I can do my study. Recommendation to anyone considering undertaking such a degree: run. Run fast and far. Maybe it'll be worth it down the road but...right now I'm not seeing it.
- I've got a new crop of students and we're heading into week 3 and I'm actually tempted to say that I may end up with an entire class actually passing. This would be a first, since usually by this point at least a third of them have dropped off the face of the earth without dropping the class, resulting in getting something exciting like a 19/1000 for the course. Of course, there's still plenty of time for that to happen, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
- If you're not watching Chuck, you really should be. This continues to be one of our favorite shows - and it really just keeps getting better. Even if they did let Nicole Richie on it...everyone deserves one bad decision.
- There's a mini-series starting Saturday called Legend of the Seeker based on Terry Goodkind's book Wizard's First Rule. I'm looking forward to that (and really hoping it doesn't end up doing a bad job with the book - both Tim and I really enjoyed that series.)
- I made snickerdoodles the other day. First off, I don't understand why it's been so long since I made them - yum! And second, snickerdoodle is fun to say. I dare you to say it and not smile.
- Who on earth made a cookie and decided to call it a snickerdoodle?
- On Friday we will be handing out full sized candy. I'm not sure if this make us heroes (hello? full sized!) or evil (you only get one - so no handful). We'll see what happens. (Of course, realistically, they'll get at least two - I bought, as always, way more than I needed to. And yet with the full size bars, I spent less for more candy than the minis. Go figure.)
- Cassi and the baby have matching costumes. I'll post a picture at some point.
- Tim went to the chiropractor today after 5 years of me suggesting that it would help with his constant neck pain. Amazingly his neck already hurts less. Sometimes, folks, your wife really does know what you need.
I vote for you guys being the candy "heroes". :-) A handful of tootsie rolls is no match for a full-sized Butterfinger.
ReplyDelete"Sometimes, folks, your wife really does know what you need." What? You're not just making recommendations for things that are guaranteed to make him uncomfortable? Hee. I do not know why my husband is so surprised when I'm right about things he'll like.
Jami - does it change your mind when you find out I didn't get Butterfingers? (Bleh) Or is a full sized Snickers still ok? Tim has learned to discern between the devious grin that accompanies suggestions sure to cause additional pain and the helpful, "I'm concerned about you look" that goes along with real suggestions. Or at least, I"m hoping he's figured that out. :)
