I've actually been finding some time to work on my PhD these days. (I know, I also find it rather shocking.) I have at least two schools who will participate with me, and one of those teachers is going to see if she can get some of her colleagues in her district to do it as well. I'm cautiously hopeful that I'll be able to get the sample size I need for the study to actually work. Since that has happened, I've been trying to get back to work on the proposal, as I had set it aside in a fit of despondency when it seemed as if there would never be anyone willing to work with me.
I have to say, I'm tired of reading research. Thankfully, I think I'm reaching the end of what's out there. The ratio of "has some keywords but really doesn't apply" to "relevant" is rapidly switching in favor of the former. This suggests to me that I can stop going cross eyed over journal articles full of jargon. (I wonder how some of these things get published - my advisor would never let me be finished with something that read the way 1/2 of these do.)
My fingers are now crossed that I can get the proposal finished and approved by the end of the term (which is, thankfully, the beginning of February, not December) so that I can defer for the spring semester, do my study in the fall and, if all the planets align properly, write everything up in time to graduate in March of 2010. That seems like such a long way off, but at least it's a date of some sort...all in all, it's finally feeling like there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
