This is a fun, quick read that follows Piper Wick as she returns to Pickwick, North Carolina to try and work her PR magic on her uncle at the behest of her mostly estranged extended family who would prefer that their past misdeeds remain in the past. What she finds when she gets there, however, is her uncle's namesake working as his gardener, a challenge to live the Bible she says she believes, and a chance to find and give forgiveness.
The pages turn quickly in this refreshing story and while there are a few little moments of irritation with the pig-headedness of the main characters, by and large they're fun to read about. I will say that I found several places where I had a bit of a sense of deja vu only to realize that I was confusing Piper with Harriet (of Splitting Harriet, the only other book I've read by this author as yet.) Perhaps it's a coincidence that the only two books of hers I've read have very similar themes and characters, but it did cause me to pause a couple of times and have to reorient myself. Even so, it didn't detract from the fun of the story. If you're looking for a light, feel good read this is definitely something you should consider.
