We're heading off on a cruise at some point this summer and I'm in the throes of trying to get everything planned and sorted for it. Step one, really, was to get the airfare. As it's an Alaska cruise, it leaves out of Vancouver, so comparing flights to Seattle to flights to Vancouver, it seemed like we would save considerable money by flying to Seattle and then driving up. So I booked flights to Seattle.
And then I seriously sat down to price a rental car (vs. just the casual pricing I'd done when making the initial decision).
Holy schmoley.
Turns out, we probably would've been better off flying straight to Vancouver since we're not going to need the car for weeks at a time (thus not getting a weekly, unlimited mileage rate). So now I'm looking at getting up to Vancouver in other ways. On the positive side, it looks like a train ride is now also in our future, so the kiddo is going to be in pig heaven.
Lemonade out of lemons, and all that.
Is it too early to be super excited about the trip?
