That's roughly the order things came down. The boys went out to play first thing and I'm glad they did. We had twoish (maybe 2.5) inches of decently fluffy snow at the start of the morning. By 11, it was shifting into sleet / freezing rain and everything on the ground was turning to slush.
I did go out and push the piles of slush off the driveway so they hopefully won't turn into solid sheets of ice overnight. We'll see.
The plow and sand/salt man actually made his way through our neighborhood twice, which suggests (or at least I hope it suggests) that maybe tomorrow the roads will be fine and I can still hit the dermatologist. Fingers crossed.
This afternoon I made zwieback with the recipe my grandmother had written out for me long ago. It was fun to have elder boy read her cramped cursive (he can, so that's a bonus). She and I only made them together once - they're fiddly and time consuming - but it was fun. And they turned out tasty, so that's a bonus.
Hubby's sister had her baby. His parents are acting as if she's the first woman to ever bring forth a child. They were never this excited about either of our boys. I am working on not wanting to just write them completely out of our lives because dang. Be excited, absolutely. But have the decency to keep it at the level that you had for your other grandchildren. Toss in the fact that I already figure this poor kid is going to end up with divorced parents (and if sister-in-law's track record continues, it'll be an ugly divorce full of cheating and nastiness) and mostly I just want to sigh. I hope I'm wrong, I really do, but she hasn't been faithful to anyone she's been with yet so I find it hard to imagine those tiger stripes will change.
