The weather around here has been about as perfect as can be of late. I love fall.
Yesterday, the boys and I gathered loppers and a hand saw and did a little tree and bush maintenance out in front of the house. Eldest is now basically as tall as me (I think I have 1/4 of an inch on him?) so was able to do the bushes with no issue (and I am all for that, as they are pokey and itchy and I hate doing them.) Youngest snipped shoots off the birches as high as he could get and helped me nip the edges of some of the maple branches that were dripping down and bopping people on the head when they tried to walk on the walk to the door. We also sawed off some of the lower branches on the Japanese maple that are just stupid and always in the way.
Did we do it as the arborists say to? I have no idea. We just did what we wanted. I guess we'll see later if we hosed anything.
But the point is, we got a large bit of the yardwork for the weekend finished, leaving a lovely open slate ahead.
We need to groom SleepyPup - schnauzers are amazing and lovely dogs, but they do need regular clippering. I think hubs and I have gotten good enough at it. And we're not showing him anyway, so we'd just as soon not dole out to the groomer every six to eight weeks.
We might go get the rest of the sealer that we need to finish the patio and deck maintenance.
It'd be good to have one of the boys power wash the front walk.
But all of these are easily done and mostly enjoyable tasks. Particularly when the weather is so fine.
