Eldest and hubs are off on a one-night camping trip with Trail Life this evening. This is only for the older boys as it involves backpacking a couple of miles to a rough campsite carrying all that will be needed.
It's nothing compared to last summer where they did this for a week in the midst of the insane heat wave, but they were both still looking forward to it.
Last summer, we purchased a single backpacking tent that "sleeps two." I put it in quotes, as it's a very cozy sleeping situation and eldest generally uses that tent for his own personal one when there's a family campout. So we ordered a second one.
Of course, hubs didn't pull the trigger until last night, so today was a day of Amazon delivery chicken which, ultimately, he failed. So he went off after work finished up (having sent eldest along with another dad earlier in the afternoon) with the 3 person tent. His words were "This is all still lighter than any pack I marched with in the Army and it's only a couple of miles." So all is probably well.
Of course the tent arrived around 6:30, when he'd been gone nearly 90 minutes.
Ah well. We have it for next time.
So youngest and I are home. We spent the evening playing trucks and watching TV. He's now happily in bed. And I'm enjoying a pleasant bit of quiet before heading that direction myself.
