Greetings from the Snowpocalypse

We got just about a foot of snow Sunday night. Of course, it was all precursed (that's not a word, apparently, but I still like it, particularly as it feels apt when we see what's next) with snow that melted and then froze, making a nice little ice crust under the foot of snow.

The boys (as well as me and hubby, though not the Sleepy Pup, because he is definitely not a fan) spent the bulk of the day playing in it. There was an enormous snowball rolled (I thought we were doing a snowman, but alas, no, it was just make it as big as possible in hopes of rolling it down the hill. Dad put the kibosh on that, though, because it was large and heavy enough he figured it'd break the fence. Party pooper.) There was sledding. And standing on the sleds in an approximation of snowboarding. (I felt foolish when I gave in and bought the new sleds at Costco in September. Because we so rarely have any chance to use such things. I got quite a few "see mom?" from the older boy.)

We did dig out the path to the street and the sidewalk from the front door to the garage, but we didn't attempt the driveway. That's for today's fun, I guess.

Of course overnight it all compacted into heavier, icier snow. So that's extra fun.

And now there's a possibility of 3-6 more inches Thursday night.

Elder boy is a little grumpy as today's his birthday and there is zero chance of getting out to go out to dinner. Also his party is Saturday and it's gonna be cold and snowy on the paintball fields. But he doesn't want to risk moving the party as most people have said they can make it. So I guess we'll see what we see.
