Yesterday and today I have been back at the hive ship for work. While this has impeded my commute lovliness somewhat, I have still managed to carpool - it's just now I drop Tim off and then toodle the rest of my way to the hive ship. While I still contend that this building, by its very act of being, sucks your soul from the moment you enter the parking garage until the moment you escape - er, go home - it is nice to not be spinning my wheels waiting for other people to get their collective acts together in order to be able to do my work. No, now I am trying to put back together the Humpty-Dumpty that HeebeeDeebie Guy (you remember HeebeeDeebie, right?) left when he was summarily executed - I mean let go.
See, it seems as part of his parting gift to us, he not only changed all the administrator passwords on the servers (and didn't tell anyone - thankfully he's not all that creative and made changes along the lines of adding a 1 at the end of the old password), but he also seems to have managed to break all of our customer demos, and hosed a few databases. So I'm on cleanup, and it's nice to have real, honest-to-goodness, work to do. Even if I can feel my soul disappearing. (I'm working hard at staying relatively invisible so no one thinks that it might be a good thing to bring me back here full time. Because that would be a bad, bad thing. Of course, I no longer have an office here - it being imperative that someone who works here 4 hours, two days a week, have my exact office, even though there were plenty of empty offices he could've had. I'm hoping that works against any thoughts of a relocation.)
Was that complaining? It wasn't meant to be...but if it was, I'll go back on the wagon again today, I promise. And now, I will get back to the hunt for SQLServer - I know it's gotta be on one of these servers. He wouldn't have blown the whole thing away, would he? (And don't these people know you're supposed to escort sysadmins from the office when you fire them???)
