Fictionary Thursday

Long before someone came up with the cool idea to put it in a box and sell it for huge quantities of money, my family was playing the equivalent of Balderdash, however, we called it Fictionary.

Since my poetry contest was....unpoetic. :) I have decided to try Fictionary Thursday. Yes, I realize it would be more alliterative on Fridays, but I do quizzies on Friday and I need something interesting to blog about today, cause productivity just didn't make me feel like I lived up to your expectations of me. And I'm a people pleaser. Big time people pleaser. (So please play the game and pretend you like it, k? It'll make me feel like I made your day a little brighter.)

Rules are simple:
1) I will give you a word. A real word.
2) Even if you know the real definition, make up a definition that you think is more fitting. Use it in a sentence if you like, to drive home the point.
3) Vote for any other definitions you like (based on creativity, etc.) (I assume everyone is going to vote for themselves, so everyone gets 1 vote, from there it's up to you. And it is up to me. Cause if you don't vote, I'll decide by fiat.)
4) Winner will be announced sometime on Friday (probably in the afternoon to give this 24ish hours to sit and see if anyone actually wants to play). I'll tell you the actual definition tomorrow as well, cause we might as well all learn something too, right?
5) The prize? Recognition at the top of my sidebar as the Verbal Victor (or some other corny title if I come up with something better between now and later) and a link to your blog.

No talent required! Just a teeeny bit of creative effort. You can do it!

So, today's word is: theriac (THEER-ee-ak)

My definition: Noun. A published theory or supposition that upon scrutiny is revealed to be twaddle.

  1. Theriac...a Noun. An elderly thespian. As in, "There will be a meeting for all theriacs today at noon. Meet on the stage, in the theatre. For assistance, hit your call button."

I vote for Gwynne's hehe. I was thinking I could define it like Brainiac but instead of being filled with brains, Filled with conspiracy theories!
