Not as young as I used to be

This weekend proved to me, yet again, that I just am not as young as I used to be. And it's sad. Very, very sad.

Friday night we went over to hang out with some friends and, as seems to be typical of our hanging out with them, it was the wee hours of Saturday morning when we got back home. (This in and of itself is not bad - we had a blast and C and I kicked the tailieoes of Tim and R at cards. That's right. Kicked. Their. Tails. It was almost embarassing we beat them so thoroughly. I thought for a minute they were going to cry like little girls. Not surprisingly, Tim insisted at the end that we didn't need a complete tally of the points. So I can't tell you exactly how roundly they were beaten.)

Saturday morning the alarm went off at the ungodly hour of 7. There were things to do and places to be and when I was younger a scant 5 hours of sleep wouldn't have phased me. But let me just say this now: I am not as young as I used to be. I dragged through the day.

Other friends came over for supper and cards Saturday evening. Unfortuntaely, Tim made up for his Friday night losses with interest in this game. I can't think of a time when I've had as low a score as Saturday night. I thought about crying like a little girl a few times cause it was just a bad scene. B and I were demolished. Strangely, Tim didn't object to a complete counting of all the cards in this circumstance. Hmmm.

Sunday I was so exhausted that I broke my cardinal rule ("Thou shalt never nap because thou art a horrible napper and wake disoriented, tired, and grumpy and unable to sleep again that night.") and took a 3 hour nap. That's right, 3 hours. I had very little trouble sleeping last night either. Methinks I was a tad tired.

Today I'm only slightly tired. So life is good.

Even if I'm not as young as I used to be.

  2. Heh. I should post about this very thing. After Saturday night's Fur Ball shindig, we went home and I began work transferring all of my personal stuff off of my work computer and onto the new personal computer I picked up Sat afternoon. Starting this at 11:00 pm is not for the old. ;-) I was up til 5:00 am Sunday and was none too happy when hubby roused me at 8:00 for the early service at church. Erk! I was plenty tired last night and still today!

Glad you had at least one successful round of victory at the card games. ;-)

  3. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who this is hitting! :)

Gwynne, ugh - 3 hours? Just not enough sleep...did you snore during the sermon? Hope you're feeling more rested now! (All of you!)

The card victory was quite pleasant, the defeat well, not so much, though it's still a fun game so I don't mind losing too badly. :)
