You Know It's A Good Day When...

Yesterday I arrived home to find a big package on my front stoop. I'm always very excited when there are big packages on my stoop - even if, ultimately, they turn out to be for Tim and not me. (Or for the girls. Very often the packages are simply huge boxes of gourmet eatery for the puppies. Because they're not spoiled. Nope. Not one bit.) However, yesterday it turns out that the package was for me. Even better? It contained books. Even better than that? They were free books.

A week or so ago I was talking with a fellow blogger (and by talking, I actually mean emailing, but to say I was emailing someone always sounds...weird...anyway..) and he mentioned that he was doing a book blog tour (though if you look, he appears to be on every blog book tour known to man right now) in August and would I like to help out with some of the reading. It sounded fun. Plus there was the promise of free books. Free books are always a winner. Well, after a little back and forth it turns out that rather than the one free book that I could get if I shared the duties, if I wanted to participate on my own I could get six free books. Ahem. Last I checked, six books was always better than one, so I hastily signed up.

So yesterday, there on my front stoop, was a huge package containing my six free books. And four more free books to boot! See, I get to read and review the books here on my blog (during the blog tour which is the week of August 20th) and then - here's where it gets neat - I have four books to give away to people. So...be sure to come by as I will probably do something fun for the giveaways like ask you to leave a comment. I know, it's gonna be exciting! (Actually, one of the book sets is a series of travelogues and so I might do a little "scavenger hunt" based on the locations in the books for the freebies. We'll see how creative I get.)

Anyway, the author (who has two books coming out - both the 3rd in a series, thus the six books) is Melody Carlson and the series in question are the Notes From a Spinning Planet series and the Samantha McGregor series. They're Christian YA so if you've got girls (they appear to be books that would appeal more to girls, but I'll let you know) in that reading bracket, you might want the freebies - stay tuned.
