A Plethora of Birthday Goodness

This week has been a delightful exuberance of birthday celebrations. My sister has given me several new crochet pattern books and I'm looking forward to making some fun little stuffed animals and play food in the coming months.

On Thursday (my actual birthday), my mom, the kiddo, my sister and I went out to lunch at a favorite spot and then did a little clothes shopping. Tim left cards around the house that I found as we went about our morning routine, which was quite fun. The only slight negative was having to teach my class Thursday night (sadly, my birthday isn't a national holiday so work continued as usual). Even still, I really am enjoying this batch of students. I'm not sure if it's because I'm teaching programming this semester (vs. software engineering) or if this is just a seriously motivated bunch of folk, but whatever it is, it's been refreshing and has reminded me why I teach. (This is a good thing, as I was nearing burn out rather rapidly.)

Friday the doodle and I spent the morning with a friend from church and her boys. They are much older, but they enjoyed playing with the kiddo so the grown ups could chit chat and drink tea. It was delightful. Friday evening, our friends came over and we had Chinese takeout and cheesecake. Not normally a combo I would go for, but it worked quite nicely. And they gave me a stick blender, which is something I have wanted for a while. I'm not sure it's something I really *need*, but I'm looking forward to playing with it, nonetheless.

And for more fun (though unrelated to my birthday, just happened to coincide), my side of the family has decided to all go on a Caribbean cruise together. I'm looking forward to that quite a bit - though there are lots of details to work out, one of which is getting the kiddo a passport ASAP. Still, should be fun!

  3. Awesome! A family cruise sounds like just what the doctor ordered, for traveling with the doodle, and quality time with your mom. Very exciting!!
