Apparently I have no concept of size. I have been knitting a sweater for...going on 2 years now and the back panel needs to be 27 inches long according to the pattern. So, using my laser-accurate eye I gauged that I was pretty darn close if not a little over. But just to be safe, I get out the trusty tape measure...it's only 21 inches long. 6 inches is kind of a big difference. So I was contemplating my forearm thinking it would be a good "rule" to have a handle on. And from the inside of my elbow to the bottom of my wrist is 10 inches. A full foot is to about the webbing of my thumb. And the first joint of my thumb is about an inch (this seems to be universally true...how is it that no matter how tall you are, your thumb joint is still about an inch?) Not sure how this will help me in the future...but at least I know. Where's GI Joe when you need him?
