I sat on the phone on mute today while my sister spoke to her oncologist. And it's about what we figured -- definitely in the realm of the worst case scenario.
The median expectancy at this point - with chemo every three weeks - is 13 months.
She's going to give the chemo a shot. One of the drugs (they want to do 3 at a time) is one Mom couldn't handle. She had a massive allergic response to it that they couldn't combat with steroids. We suspect sister will have the same issue, but we'll try it.
If they can't use the carboplatin, the other two of the three that they want to use are considerably less effective and all the timespans get shortened rather drastically.
Didn't do much today. The kids played in the yard. I made elder do his math test and younger do some reading, but that's all. I can't really focus.
It's one thing to suspect the worst. Even to assume it. It's still a completely other animal to have it confirmed.
Cancer sucks.
