It's no secret that youngest has been struggling with reading. I think I've detailed our varied efforts to overcome this hurdle in probably too much detail here.
Today, for the first time ever in his life, he was sitting at the kitchen table flipping through his Ranger Rick magazine.
And. He. Started. To. Read.
It was work - very clearly work - but he read all the captions on the dinosaur pages and the leaf bug pages with maybe two or three helps from me for some of the larger words.
I very nearly cried.
I know it's not the end of his struggle, but it's the first glimmer of light -- real light -- in this battle and I hadn't realized just how badly I needed it until it happened.
