Whelp. The first day of school is officially complete. All in all, I think it went well.
The computer-based math was a win for both boys. We'll see if that continues when they're finished with the review. Both commented on how easy it was and I just smiled. Because yes, first day content often is easier than anticipated.
Reading for the youngest. Yarrgh. I don't know what I'm going to do. His reading glasses help some, but on a whim after a bit of struggle, I took the book downstairs and blew a page up to 200%. And that was better. Not perfect -- he said he'd prefer it a bit bigger. So is it his eyes? Is it that large print makes it easier to focus? Both? None?
I just...yargggh.
So maybe we'll try the super large print thing for a bit and see what we can see. I might reach out to one of the curriculum peeps and see if there's an e-version of their books as then I could blow it up big without having to kill so many trees.
Otherwise, eldest mowed the lawn. Youngest rode his bike. It was hot and buggy.
But I'm calling today a win.
