Reflections from the TV Screen

I've made it to season 18 of the Amazing Race. I like this one a lot, because the Cowboys were back (I enjoyed their original season as well.) Honestly, I liked most of the teams who were back for this "unfinished business" season -- with the notable exception of the Globetrotters. They're sneaky and underhanded and sore losers/bad sports. And they seem proud of it, to be honest. I really hope they don't win.

Sometimes it's all I can do not to google who was the ultimate winner of a season, because I don't like the intensity. (Sometimes I do go ahead and look it up. Because life's too short to spend time anxious about a TV show that aired in the 2010 time frame.)

I've also been watching old episodes of Top Chef (on Hulu). This more in the evenings, as the kids sometimes will pop in and watch and comment on the cooking. Or on whether or not they'd eat whatever's being made.

Eldest and I will sometimes watch Masterchef together when he's taking a break from playing Xbox with his friends. (Usually that's a break forced upon him because of bad behavior. Let's be real.)

Friends recommended Orphan Black, which is on Prime. But I haven't yet had the chance to watch an episode, since a) hubby expressed interested and b) it's very un kid friendly, so that limits.

In movie news, because why not? We went to see Free Guy last weekend. It was nice to be back in the theater. We loved it -- it's witty and fun and just a simple delight. We wished we'd taken the kids (there's a little language but it's PG-13, I believe, so it's not as if it would've been inappropriate.) We'll definitely let them see it when it's available to rent.

We also watched Black Widow on Disney+. This the kids did like (eldest pretends that he's too cool, but I saw his face). It's another that's definitely worth a watch (I think) and would in fact watch it a second time. I've heard good things about the latest Marvel movie that's now in theaters and we'll see if we can make it happen. I do love a good Marvel movie.

  1. Eldest Gel, who is in to such things, reports that the latest Marvel movie is a lot of fun. She was concerned from all the pre-release hype that it would get political, but said she didn't notice anything in the film itself.

  2. Sigh...Too early for tricksy comment formatting. More coffee.

  3. Ooh, that's good to know! I was concerned about that myself.
