Sister met with her new gyn oncologist today. She's officially been kicked out of the clinical trial. Not super surprising but also kind of frustrating. (Of course it wasn't working, so really what's the point in continuing?) BUT this oncologist has some ideas that are beyond what the doctors here had talked about, so the new plan is more chemo (3rd level, so adjust expectations accordingly, but it's better than nothing. Maybe.) and also a DNA test on a new biopsy to see if there are other clinical trials that she might qualify for.
So I guess the docs at UC Davis are on it and maybe it's nice that she's in California?
After that call today (and a space of a few hours), I get a call from mother-in-law letting me know that father-in-law is at ER possibly having a heart attack. She didn't go with him b/c she has a broken toe (?) and so she doesn't know more than that he made it to the ER. She'll keep me posted when she knows things.
Knowing him, he drove himself there instead of calling an ambulance.
And I offered to drive down to help her, but she said wait and honestly I am just so frustrated that they thought moving three hours away was a good plan because they have NO support down there. They haven't tried to get involved anywhere (which I mean Covid would have made that a lot harder anyway, but they didn't even try?) So for real just...gah.
To make it more fun, hubby is apparently working in a lab today so his phone is useless. Tried calling the office main number and their phone system is f'd. Started randomly dialing extensions just to see if I could get ANYONE to answer.
I'm about ready to try smoke signals.
And of course the skies just opened up and are dumping buckets of rain. Because why not?
I'll be over here banging my head against the wall.

Will take a wild shot at the quote: Hill Street Blues?
ReplyDeleteNot a drop of rain here.
As always, you and your fam remain in my prayers.
Prayers greatly appreciated. FIL turns out to be fine, so that's good.
DeleteAnd also nope, did Hill Street Blues have lyrics? It's The Facts of Life. Probably out of your milieu as far as things you would have ever willingly watched.
I missed the keyword "theme". HSB didn't have lyrics but I thought it might have been something Sgt. Esterhaus said.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're right, FOL held no interest for me.
